Do you often find yourself thinking you should be doing more things for yourself? Maybe you’ve wanted to read more, or you’d like to learn to play golf? Or maybe you’d like to start a veggie patch or a new craft?
We’ve heard it a million times already – “Do More Of What You Love” how do you find the time?
BUT how the F*ck do you find the time?
Well, the Universe dropped this Ted Talk in front of my eyeballs 🙂 This 3 minute and 27-second video changed my life ( a bit dramatic I know :-p ) But it did give me a new strategy to get stuff ticked off the good old to do list.
The concept is simple: Do something for 30 days and see what happens!
What I did
- I made a list of all the things I’d like to do more of.
- Started with the first thing on my list and challenged myself to do this one thing for 30 days.
- I took teeny tiny steps to reach my goal. Here’s what I mean:
My 1st challenge: I’d Like To Read More.
Reading’s always been the easiest thing that gets dropped from my to do list but for 30 days I made sure I read at least ONE sentence before going to sleep. After 30 days it became a habit and I’m ecstatic to report 12 months down the line I’m still able to get at least one sentence in at night 😀
After doing my first 30-day challenge I quickly figured out that this was a great way to create new habits for myself so I slowly started to introduce these challenges into my daily routine.
What started as challenges have now become second nature. Things that have always been need tos and want tos, have become dos.
The 30-day challenge has given me more time to do more of what I love… EVERYDAY!
The next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days?
